Jackie Magpie interview

A brand new year is beginning... and with it lots of new work and features!

Recently, I had been lucky enough to be interviewed by the lovely folks at Jackie Magpie, an online magazine and blog full of creative news and original content.

Two years, Christmas and another era!

I've finally found the time to write another blog post, probably the last of the year.
So many things have happened recently that I didn't had the time to celebrate properly. For example:

- This blog had his second birthday. I planned to have a give away for it but I'm overseas at the moment  so I decided to postpone this in 2013. Stay tuned!

- I finished my very first book. DOUBLE YAY! I can't post sneak peeks yet since I need to wait for it to be published. It's going to be a long wait since it won't happen till the end of next year. It's probably a newbie feeling but I can't wait to speak about it!!!

- I did my second mail promo. I promise I'll post about that when I come back from these holidays.
Now that I'm not a student anymore and I'm on my own I really need to do kick ass promotion!!

- I've become a sub-committee member of Illustrators Australia so this means I'll get to see what happens behind the scenes. I'm very exciting about this one since I've always been interested in being more involved with the illustrator community.

- At the moment I'm working on my second book. I'm soooo really excited about this one, I really like to story and so far it has been really fun to draw. These below are some sneak peeks of some roughs. As you can see there's a girl involved and lots of nature... bliss!!

9x5 - Carnivale

This is my piece for this year 9x5, an exhibition held annually by Illustrators Australia.
This time the theme was "Carnivale" and I've tried to interprete it my way, trying to think a bit out of the box.
However, I'm not particularly happy with this piece. I hope I could have done more with the background...

The opening night will be held Friday 9th November at SPACE 39, Little Collins st., Melbourne. from 6pm. All the artworks will be available for sale thru a silent auction on the night.

ILLUSTRE 2012

Hello peeps! At the end of this month my diploma of illustration course is organising a graduation show.
The show is called ILLUSTRE and with more 28 artists and more than 90 pieces of work, the exhibition is going to be HUGE and AMAZING!

Tease

At the moment I'm not updating this blog much since I've been busy with work but it's still all under construction... soon more news, but for the moment all I can do is posting a few teases of stuff I'm working on. I can't wait to show more!

This is Melbourne

Earlier this year I posted about "This is Melbourne", an exhibition organised by Pesky .
Some days ago I attended the launch and it was great! I love launches since I get to meet lots of wonderful artists!

Anyway, here below is my piece for the exhibition (click to enlarge!). It is a limited edition A3 print available for $100.00.
And here you can find some photos from the event.
"This is Melbourne" will run throughout the Fringe Festival until the 14th of October. Go and have a look if you have a chance!

New business cards!

Look what I've got in the mail today... my new set of business cards that came in a wonderful looking box!!

I think they look beautiful and the guys who printed did an awesome job! This time I went with Print Together, a printing company here in Melbourne. They use 100% post-consumer recycled paper and vegetable inks. So it's good for the environment and they're local!

I'm very happy with the colours and the paper (matte, recycle looking, gorgeous!) and the delivery was very fast. This place has just become new my favourite printing place!

A new project is coming!

Hello! I'm happy to announce I'm currently working on a project at the moment with the lovely people at Blue Quoll Digital. They are a digital house publisher located in Brisbane, Australia, and they produce beautiful digital apps for kids inspired by classical fairytales.

They already have two apps on sale on the iTune store illustrated by the incredibly talented and award-winning illustrator Lucia Masciullo. Check them out!!

I'm working with them on a classical tale that is going to be completed transformed and turned over! Hopefully the app will be released by the end of the year. This is a very small sneak peak of it... can someone guess which tale is it??:)

So far it's all still top-secret but more info and images will be revealed soon! Stay tuned!!

Breakfast at Tiffany's

This is a book cover I've completed not long ago.
It was a school project and I really enjoyed doing it. I also got the change to finally read the book and I really liked it. I think I would like to do more book covers in the future...

Create Design Awards 2012

Hello! Today I have a massive news to share!
Every year Desktop magazine organises the Qantm Create Design Awards that celebrate the best australian designs.
This year I've applied and with my huge surprised I've been shortlisted in the Emerging talent category. Yaaaaaaay!!!

Peggy

Happy start of spring everyone!

Last Saturday I went to The Little Bookroom for the launch of "Peggy", the new picture book of the lovely Anna Walker.
There were lots of people attending the launch and Anna read the book for us.
Obviously, I bought a copy for myself and got it signed! Yay!
