I haven't been updating this blog much lately. Truth is I've been busy with stuff I can't show around yet, so bear with me and I promise I will post some new work very soon!

In the meantime, I've finally received the copies of the book I've illustrated last year for Scarletta Press called If An Armadillo Went To A Restaurant. 
I must say I'm sooooo pleased with how it turned out in the end!!
I can definitely say this is my best published work so far, very proud about it! :D

CYA Conference Competition

Ok, I supposed I can finally share this now... 
A few weeks ago I decided to take part in the competition held every year in occasion of the CYA Conference, Children's Young Adult Writers and Illustrators Conference.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the event which will be held at the beginning of June in Brisbane, however I decided to create some work and enter the competition. 

Aimed to both published and unpublished illustrators, the entrants are required to illustrate up to three spreads of one of the two proposed stories. 

The story I've chosen is called "Slowly, slowly catch a monkey!" written by Tina Marie Clark.

I must say it was incredibly challenging for me at the beginning because for a long time I didn't have a clue of what to draw. 
Usually, as soon as I read a text, there's already a stream of images going thru my mind. 
This time I really didn't have any idea at all. PANIC!
This was probably because I was very unfamiliar with the theme and the settings of the story: 
an African boy who's too young to go to school spent his days with his grandfather who teach him how to catch a monkey. 

After thinking and researching, this is what I've come up with. 

The competition's results will be revealed in June. Fingers crossed for me!

Create Design Awards 2012

Hello! Today I have a massive news to share!
Every year Desktop magazine organises the Qantm Create Design Awards that celebrate the best australian designs.
This year I've applied and with my huge surprised I've been shortlisted in the Emerging talent category. Yaaaaaaay!!!

The Year of the Dragon Postcards

A few weeks ago I submitted one of my illustrations to the lovely folks at Avant Card and because they liked it they decided to print it into postcards! These postcards are now distribuited in Avant Cards stands all around Australia. This is for me a massive opportunity to get my work out there, how amazing!

I was very excited when they told me that they chosen one of my pieces to get printed. And I'm even more excited today that I received 500 dragon postcards at my front door for free!!

Tony & Guy Yen Young Australian Art Award

Last month I entered a competition called Tony & Guy Yen Young Australian Art Award. It'a a competition which supports young Australian women involved in art.
Unfortunately I didn't win but the nice people at Yen Magazine sent me home this acrylic set! Every one who entered got one. How awesome! They asked me if I want to give them a feedback about the product and they invited me to be part of their artist community to receive products to test regularly. How incredibly awesome! Since my illustration teacher has great esteem of Windsor & Newton products I couldn't be happier.

Stylist cover

Recently I did this illustration for the Stylist 100th issue cover competition.
Once I came up with the concept, it took me ages to illustrate it because I couldn't paint anything that looked as a peacock's tail and a firework at the same time. This is the best I did. I like it so far...!

They draw and travel

Finally yesterday I finished this project I meant to do ages ago.
It didn't take me long, I thing getting started took me longer!
Anyway, this is my map for the They draw and travel project. I decided to do a map of Melbourne with my favorite restaurants on it. I'm quite happy with the result!
